HASL Meeting (new)

With the new group we’ve decided to meet once a month to discuss league issues. Out of last night’s meeting the following things came out

  • We’ve decided that these league meetings should be an open forum. So if you want to have a say in the league, here is your chance. If you wish to attend the meeting, the next one will be on Monday April 12th at 6:30pm at Wing’s off of Airport Road. If you plan to attend this one let us know ahead of time (league-office@hasl.org) so we can make sure we reserve a big enough table.
  • Both team captains need to make sure they each send scores to league-office@hasl.org after every game to ensure accuracy and timeliness of standings.
  • Teams need to be aware that referees will start cracking down on uniforms. This means matching socks, shorts, and jerseys for everyone.
  • Midway point of the season has been declared as March 24th. The transfer window closes after this. You can still add players, but the transfer window will be closed after this date.
  • You should have your player cards laminated and signed by now. The no card-no play rule is up to the referee to enforce. An easy way to do it is to buy pre-cut laminated cards from Wal-mart in the office supply section and you can put them together right at the field.

HASL by Committee (updated)

With the new group we’ve got some responsibilities split out. The breakdown is as follows:

league-office@hasl.org - General Inquires, Scores, new team requests, and anything administrative should be sent to the league office through this email.

scheduling@hasl.org – All things scheduling, updates, rain outs, requests (all though they may not be granted) should be sent to this email address

players@hasl.org – New players looking to get on a team, teams looking for players should send an email to this address

Not sure if we’ll add any more or not, but for starters that’s what we’ve been able to come up with.

Over-35 for the Fall 2010 Season

HASL teams did vote to start an Over-35 division for the Fall 2010 season. Organizers believe they have commitments from three teams immediately and possibly one or two more to come soon. HASL will want to make a six-team division if at all possible. More information to follow as we receive it.

HAITI Relief

Ryan from the pwt-blog and Josh Russo from the Haiti Food Drive are coordinating a soccer equipment drive through his organization. They will be collecting new or used soccer shirts, shorts, socks, balls, shoes, etc. You can drop your gear off at  Pete’s Soccer Shop

Over-40 Soccer

Soccer play continues at Logan Park (1/2 mile West of Kroger’s on South Memorial Parkway). Play for Sunday is 2pm to 4pm. For more information, contact Robert Illan at 256-880-9044 or illanrob@juno.com.

Wanting to Join a HASL Team?

Before contacting the League Office about joining HASL and one of its teams, please refer to the Procedures link on this web site to view the instructions on Joining a Team. Please send your request with a detailed player bio over to players@hasl.org and you’ll be put on our player pool which will go out to the captains.
